There is
a beautiful spot called Sundarijal on the north east corner of Kathmandu,
which was fairly inhabited by the Tibetan people. Modern medicines was unknown
to them. The trust has constructed a building and runs a daily clinic over
there. The local elite run the day to day activity. The central committee
of the trust gives financial grants and monitors its activity. It is running
very well by the elected local committee. For the spiritual health of the
people the trust has constructed a temple of Lord Krishna and Radha where
a daily prayer meeting is held. Epics are recited from time to time specially
on festive occasion.
Dakshinkali Health Care Center:
On the
southern side of Kathmandu, two villages have been adopted by the Trust
- Talku and Chhaimale, where there are free clinics, pediatric clinic
and public health programmes. This is the place where the first community
based ARI management programme was initiated in Nepal in 1982. And later
on, the programme was expanded to Jumla - One of the the remotest district
in Karnali zone, Mid-Western Development Regin of Nepal. Recently, a pilot
programme on empowerment of women has been introduced, construction of
smokeless stove and training to the local villagers is undertaken. We
hope this will control indoor air pollution and safeguard the health of
women who have to spend much of their time in the kitchen.
